Reader Comments

  1. PLEASE double check your info!!! The Peace Lily is EXTREMELY toxic to cats! ALL lilies are! My beloved cat nearly died after nibbling on a lily and it cost me hundreds of dollars in vet bills. My vet said NO lilies of any kind should be in or around a house with cats.

  2. My previous message should have said Easter lily not Peace lily

  3. Hi Kim,
The peace lily is not a true lily. Be that as it may, it doesn’t appear on the list because it is toxic to both dogs and cats. The Easter lily, on the other hand, is toxic to cats, as you point out. But it is non-toxic to dogs (according to the ASPCA). This blog post was originally titled “Dog Safe Houseplants.” When our writer rewrote it to include cats, she accidentally left off the caveat we made note of in our notes to her.

You will be happy to know that it’s fixed now and we thank you for pointing out the error.
