In fact, succulents have become one of the stars of Instagram.
Is this just a fad? If it is, it’s no flash in the pan. Sales of succulents began soaring back in 2012. In fact, between then and 2017, sales of succulents increased 64 percent, according to retailers surveyed by Garden Center magazine.

3. An explosion of color
Can you believe the colors here? If you order one moon cactus they’ll send an orange one. If you order a 4-pack, on the other hand, the growers (Fatt Plants in San Diego, California) promise that “you will not receive duplicate colors.”
The moon cactus is the result of grafting Gymnocalycium mihanovichii onto a cactus in the Hylocereus genus (sometimes referred to as “night-blooming cactus).
Their brilliant colors are the result of a mutation, making these succulents incapable of producing chlorphyll. Kinda flies in the face about what we were told about photosynthesis in Kindergarten, right?

4. Absolutely gorgeous
It’s blood-red-tipped leaves are showstoppers and its flowers are butterfly magnets. Dragon’s Blood sedum, a fast-growing groundcover, adds drama and flair.
