Ideas to help you decorate your yard for the holidays

I love looking at the Best Seller list at – it’s a great way to find out what’s popular at any point in time. Since my mind is turning toward the holidays, and digging out my holiday decorations for the garden, I thought it might be fun to see what’s hot in holiday décor this year and to share it with you so you, too can decorate your yard for the holidays.

Full disclosure: I get commissions from purchases made through links in this post. I have not, however, received any products for free — all of the ones I refer you to are those that I purchase and use in my own garden.

Holiday lights

Raindrop Lights

These lights are supposed to look like raindrops. I don’t think they do, but I like the shape. They’re multi-colored, water and weather proof (yes, even snow). Let them charge in the daytime for 6 to 8 hours and they’ll remain lit at night for 8 to 10 hours, according to the manufacturer.

There are eight modes from which to choose (blinking, etc.) and the product comes with a solar charger that you pound into the ground.

Dimmable LED String Lights

These would be adorable strung through a tree. They come with a remote control so that you can control the string’s eight modes (10 brightness levels!). They’re waterproof and the “string” is actually a bendable wire – think of the interesting shapes you can come up with.

These lights remain lit for 6 hours and they’ll turn off automatically and then turn on again 18 hours later (you can control this too).

This is a 16.4-foot string of 50 LED lights and you have a choice of four colors: blue, purple, warm white and snow white. The strand requires six AA batteries, which aren’t included with the item. View these lights for your garden here.

Every year, inflatable holiday decorations get more elaborate. Take a look at some of these best sellers.

Santa and his reindeer

I think this is my favorite in the inflatables category this year. It weighs almost 10 pounds and measures 15.8 x 13.9 x 13.8 inches. It would look cute either in the front yard or on top of the house. Learn more about this inflatable Santa and reindeer by clicking here.

Santa with one of his elves

At 14 x 12 x 12 inches, this one isn’t quite as large as the Santa and reindeer inflatable, but it certainly is as charming and might just be all you need to decorate your yard for the holidays. I love how the big red guy and the elf are waving and I bet the neighbors will enjoy this as well. Learn more about this inflatable holiday decoration here.

Cheery Snowman

Although you can choose from two designs (Santa is the other), I rather like this snowman garden stake. It stands 25 inches high – perfect for the smaller garden. You can stake it or use the hardware on the back to hang it up. It might look cute on the garden gate. Reasonably priced, I may buy both. Learn more about these garden stakes here.
